Fortyfive species of AmphineurusA. bicornis and A. flexuosus may be local endemics for they are in central Westland where extensive presence/absence data are available. The Westland data are the best as early collections (1920's) were made by a enthusiastic railway worker T. Harris near Blackball. Later collections include many species from the by-catch of several long term malaise trap studies. One site, Ohakune, is also well known through the efforts of the same collector.
